Skaalen currently offers window visits, virtual visits, and in-person visits. While window visits and virtual visits are highly encouraged, as they are the safest option, we understand the importance of physically seeing and talking in person. Therefore, we now have in-person visits to accommodate this need. In-person visits are subject to be outside or inside depending on the facilities' discretion. These visits have specific guidelines and practices that must be adhered to in order to make them possible.
**Please note that in-person visitation is dependent on Dane County’s positivity rate and Skaalen’s COVID-19 status. If either of these do not meet the necessary requirements, in-person visits will have to be canceled.
Yes, based on the type of visitation depends on the hours available. Please call Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8 AM– 4 PM to set up your desired form of visit. Appointment times are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Window visits and virtual visits can be accommodated Monday through Friday 9 AM to 4 PM and Saturday 10 AM to 2 PM.
- In-person visits are available Monday through Friday from 9 AM – 11 AM and 1:30 PM – 4:00 PM. For the time being, there will be a scheduled start and end time for in-person visits for infection control purposes. Accommodations for visitation may be available for after-hours and on the weekends. Please call to find out more.
To schedule a visit to the nursing home, please contact Becky Asleson at [email protected] OR 608-873-5651 extension 7376.
**If you are not feeling well, we ask that you do not visit in person! Kindly inform us and we will be happy to help you reschedule your appointment or set up a time for a virtual visit.
Long-term care providers retain the right to deny visits based on the current facility COVID-19 status, resident or visitor not complying with guidance, if the resident/visitor does not pass the health screening, or if the resident/visitor is at risk of abuse or harm.
You will sign in and be screened for symptoms per our screening protocols that are used for all staff and essential health care personnel. You will be asked to use alcohol-rub sanitizer before your visit. We will go over restrictions and instructions for the visit, which include the use of facemasks, eye protection, social distancing, and outlined time. You will be asked to sign a form acknowledging the requirements and your agreement to comply with them.
Yes, a facemask is required to be worn by the visitor for the full duration of the visit, whether inside or outside. If it is not medically possible, then alternative visits (e.g. virtual visits or window visits) will be proposed.
No, visitors must be 5+ to visit and able to comply with all facility requirements.
Pets are being permitted for indoor and outdoor visits at this time. If you are bringing a pet in, we ask that they are up to date on their vaccinations, on a leash, or in a carrier, and that you refrain from other individuals petting your animal other than the resident you are visiting.
Only two (2) individuals at a time will be permitted for in-person visits.
Yes, visits can be scheduled regardless of vaccination status.
Yes, homemade goods can be brought in. However, we ask that these goods are in a secure form of storage, do not need any refrigeration, and are only provided to the resident you are visiting. Visitors will not be permitted to eat or drink during the visit.
If you believe that you have been wrongly denied visitation, you may contact the Ombudsman for Long-Term Care at 608-246-7001 or 1-800-815-0015.
